Hey, thanks for clearing things up. Haven’t been using Twix in ages (think it was v3 at another company) so it’s quite possible I’m not up to specs on it.

March 12, 2006 at 8:10 pm in reply to: How to create with particles or using a different way a flock of baloons that are floating on air!?There’s no plugin for AE that has true inter-particle collisions. That type of animation can only be achieved in 3D programs. Still, if you set up your particles e.g. with Particular to be spread far enough apart, you should get a convincing enough result without the ballons overlapping.

Yepp, I think you should convert them. Use Quicktime with Animation or Microcosm CoDec. You might also get away with Photo JPEG, if you don’t intend to add extensive processing (color correction, re-compressing for DVD). I wouldn’t worry about disk space/ file size – these days you can get 200 gigs for little more than 100 Euros.

Well, not considering all other issues for the moment, I’d say the rendering times are quite normal if you have the effect apllied to the clips as a whole. It’s definitely not a limitation of the demo (though I think you only get multi-thread support on full purchase).
You have to understand that it’s really a strict per-pixel evaluation (and at HD res that’s a lot of pixels to take care of). The greatest impact have the settings for the temporal evaluation – the more frames you figure in, the longer everything takes but the better usually the result is. So basically you should check across how many frames you really need to do the analysis. In addition to this, you should slice your long shot in separate sections and only apply Twixtor to the parts that need retiming – frames that Twixtor doesn’t see won’t be analyzed and render at normal speeds. You only need to take care of adding some handle frames at the start and end and make sure that the last and first frame run at the original speed. You can easily blend everything together then.
Motion Blur compensation is not necessarily a must-have. It’s a huge render hog, but does not always improve the result. If you need to use it ultimately depends on your footage.

You just render it out like any other clip and in addition to this export a “Photoshop Layers” file that contains the buttons and subpictures for use in Encore. In Encore you import this PS file as a menu and add the rendered clip as a background. This will effectively turn it into a motion menu.

Nice. Especially the multi-comp adjuster might come in handy one of these days.

Make sure you figure in the new color profile settings for the project. AE will take them into account when rendering. You can also set the profile per footage item with the corresponding effect.

Parent them to a layer/ Null, arrange them and set their auto-orientation to “towards camera”. All you need to animate then is the Null.

No way. Would require a dedicated timewarp audio effect nad that does not exist for AE. You have to do it in an external audio app such as audition.
