Ouch! Sorry I opened an apparrent can of worms.
Steve, I’m new to High Def and appreciate all your help but Tivo’s have been around for several years. You will be using this technology soon in your TV room as it is the application for TV in the future, in my opinion – all digital! Available Now, “DVR,” (same thing as TIVO) digital video recording is FANTASTIC and that’s what I use now instead of VCR to enjoy great stuff with our kids.
I’ve yet to fill my DVR disk up, but my guesstimate is 30 hours of HIGH DEF movies and shows – with an option to record to VCR, which begs the question – how to STORE? (transfer)
It’s financially, a no brainer – to transfer to expensive HD media from the DVR is ridiculous. You’re better off buying the DVD… or Blue Ray? Which begs the question – Which format is going to WIN? (I would hope for the least compressed)
Lastly, have narrowed down choices down to:
Canon ZR850
” latest/greatest
Pan PV-GS59
Canon Elura 100
Canon HV10 is out of the question and HV20 still has low light logistics provlems, according to a few reviews I’ve found.
Any and all suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
I’m leaning toward the one of the top ranked, Elura 100 but am alarmed by all the complaints about “motor noise?”
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Ron
