Hey Dave,

Thanks for the response. You are absolutely correct. And that’s what I ended up doing – going back and logging clips. Even using “capture now” after the timecode break would still often lead to the clips being captured at 29.97 instead of 23.98. Only setting in and out points guaranteed 23.98.

I’m thinking I’ll just convert my 23.98 to 29.97, and work in 29.97, as I’ll be outputting at the rate anyway

Yeah, I’ve tried capturing again, and it seems like it’s the same clips that keep being digitized at 29.97. So what should I do then? Should I just digitize everything at regular 29.97 without the pulldown?

Well the QT Animation export is pretty good, but like I was saying, not as good as the final cut output. At the moment what I’m trying is exporting my anamorphic source footage out of FCP at 864×486, that way I have it displayed perfectly, then bring that into After Effects.

Out of FCP I exported DV NTSC 864×486 which looked perfect. From After Effects, 720×486 animation (which I want as I’ll be doing a lot of titling), with my widescreen video letterboxed. Not sure which pixel aspect ratio to use.
