Thanks Joe, you think that will help? I should do the same with the audio also?

Have you had that problem with your video too?

For what it’s worth. I came to Avid Xpress W/mojo from Discreet Logic Edit. And it has been sufficient. Here’s my advice. Learn AVID software in and out. And only buy what you need.
You may not need the full studio package. You can save money by getting an awesome computer, Avid XPress pro software, mojo, and possibly the digi 002.

You may not need the avid dvd,or pro tools,or avid 3d. You could save money and get a souped up PC. I suggest the HP xw8200

    God Bless!

Thanks Chris. But that sucks! How can you spend so much money on something and have it NOT work. I had no way of knowing this when I was doing research to purchase this thing. I’m very dissappointed. VERY.

Now I have to find another encoder software.

Thank you tremendously for your input.

Do you use Sonic DVD? IF so, I have a couple of questions for you.

    My email is mj@setapartpictures.com

by the way, where can I get ‘procoder’ from?

    Hey Beth,

I still have my discreet but I’m making the jump. I got an Avid Xpress Studio. It comes with the MOJO. The mojo allows me to digitize component RGB video. So when I rent a digibeta deck, it should work for me.

I’m still running tests. But I purchased it for that very reason. I also have an extra Matrox card if you’re interested.

But to answer your question, I’m a discreet user who HAD to make the switch. Reluctantly! I got the Xpress w/Mojo to save money. Digibeta is the highest format that I need right now. Adrenaline is more expensive, but I hear that it’s a monster. If I had the money I would have got an Adrenaline.
But for the record, Discreet Edit, is the most comfortable edit program I’ve ever used. (when it works). I can’t stand Final Cut.

So Avid seemed like the most logical, and practical choice. If you are coming from Discreet, then you probably should get your Avid on PC rather than mac. Unless you just like macs.

Hope I helped you a little. Keep doing your research.

I’m in L.A. if you’re near, we should keep in touch.

    Thanks,

that worked, but guess what. My system won’t allow me to open Sorensen Squeeze. I need that to do a proper encode, right?

everytime I try to open sorensen, everything freezes.
