The similarity is superficial. When editing I don’t care about the date and time the footage was shot. I care about the scene number. And all FCPX metadata automagic is totally useless here.

Dual system. Non-matching timecode. Clapper slate.

– copy a shooting day worth of clips to timeline;
– rename from whatever camera generated to Scene-Take;
– park on a frame sticks hit;
– load matching sound take into source;
– hit Replace;
– repeat until there are no more clips;
– select all;
– copy back to project;

Without ever touching the mouse.

Did you check Item Properties for the clip in FCP? Did you scroll all the way to the right in the Browser to actually look what FCP says about your clip?

With MPEG Streamclip you can batch convert. Just look around the menus.

JKL closer to the cut you’re going to ripple. Hit V to highlight it, tap U a couple of times to go through tail-head-both, Square Brackets to trim. Hold Shift to trim 5 frames at a time. Pay attention to Autoselect and Linked selection.

ProRes is a lossy codec so with each generation the quality will suffer. Consider using 10-bit Uncompressed for intermediate steps.

RED One footage does have reel names. They’re just non-standard, 16–characters long. Not sure about Epic and Scarlet.
