I have tried uncompressed out of Camtasia at 800 x600 and all looks great on PC monitors, but mpeg/dvd to TV looks poor. I can get better results shooting the screen with a camcorder. Suspect Total Training uses either a really good scan converter or uses a really nice camera and expensive PC monitor.
The challenge is on…post a short Mpeg 2 clip of your success.

There is a thread discussing this topic on the Adobe Premiere Pro forum using Camtasia. I have experimented till the cows came home and have come to the conclusion that the fonts and lines that make up a GUI are just too thin for display on a TV.
I can take a screen capture of Photoshop to DVD using many methods and when displayed on the TV the photo in PS looks great, but the GUI is always blurred. -
While compressing into Windows Media or Xvid/Divx the result looks OK, reediting and recompressing for final output later would result in a serious quality hit.
If you expect the final output to be DVD, you could archive as Mpeg 2 for DVD and use a future solution that would allow for editing and exporting without recompression of those segments that have no effects or titles applied. These solutions for SD exist now, such as the Main Concept Mpeg plug-in for Premiere or Premiere Elements which has a “smart render” function. -
The Project Manager can create a new folder with just the assets you need to reopen your project. It will trim off all unneeded video and audio.

Premiere does not handle .m2v files well at all, at least not without the Main Concept plug-in. Premiere Elements 3 does much better with Mpeg files.

You could archive as Windows Media Video 9 or Mpeg 2 but it would take years to do that and reediting would result in a big quality loss.

You can deinterlace on export. In the upper left corner of the Export Serttings window is an Output tab with a Deinterlace option.

A crossfade transition added to the end of a audio clip will fade it out. The duration (preferences>General) is 1 second but can be stretch out on the timeline or changed in Preferences.

Try reseting Premiere’s preference file; Hold down the Shift and CRTL keys while launching Premiere until a “Browse for folder” window pops up.

My first question is; WHY?
Even if you could change the frame rate without recompression (which I doubt), the video would play back at about 20% of the normal speed.
