Adobe Media Encoder gone missing ??
Posted by Nicky Van der walt on January 30, 2007 at 2:27 pmHi,
On one of our systems the adobe media encoder interface has gone missing. If I go File->Export->Media Encoder Premiere acts like the encoder is open (does not respond to any mouse clicks etc.) and if I press Enter it opens a “save as” window and then proceeds to encode the Movie to the whatever settings. But there is no Media Encoder Window open
I have re-installed the whole production suite, but is still doing the same.
Does anybody have any suggestions?
Thanks

January 30, 2007 at 3:48 pmIs it possible that you ran duel monitors at once and now you aren’t running them? It maybe a strange question but if you did the encoder might have been opening on another screen, which isn’t there any more so it’s off your desktop.

Thanks

January 31, 2007 at 12:10 pmTry reseting Premiere’s preference file; Hold down the Shift and CRTL keys while launching Premiere until a “Browse for folder” window pops up.

April 27, 2007 at 8:19 amHi!
I am having the same problem. Did you ever find a solution for this?
Mike Velte answered to my post that in worst case uninstall and reinstall Premiere. But I understand that this method was tried in your case but without success. Thankful for any input.

May 9, 2007 at 9:25 amI just experienced this, of course when I was in a hurry to get something done…
I had just worked with Matrox tech support (about another matter) and they had me install new drivers for my ATI graphics card, leading to a reconfiguration of my displays.
When I went to use Matrox or Adobe Media Encoder to export from PPro, I had the same problems you’re describing. Someone here suggested that the window may be “hidden” on another display. I restored my monitors to their previous setup, and there it was. Thanks for the suggestion!

July 8, 2009 at 7:15 pmHi
I had a similar problem but this thread has helped me solve it. It was hiding on a disconnected screen (on OSX 10.5). -

May 1, 2010 at 2:47 amI am experiencing a similar problem. When exporting from Premiere CS4, Adobe Media Encoder opens, however I cannot find the window. I recently got rid of a dual monitor system on my macbook pro and I’m pretty sure that’s the problem here. I deleted the premiere pro preferences in Users/[user] /Library/Application Support/Adobe/Premiere Pro/4.0. This did not help as I am still experiencing the problem. Any suggestions?

May 1, 2010 at 3:51 amI just found a solution:
https://www.jonathanlaliberte.com/2007/10/19/move-all-windows-to-your-main-screen/
This is a script that makes brings all active windows to the main screen.
Works great.
