    Thanks John, subsequent to my inquiry, I discovered this post (that you also contributed to) that supports the assumption that ProRes is always – always 10bit. This is good.

    That said (take ProRes out of the discussion), would anyone know of a detection/identify method of determining if a Quicktime clip is 8 or 10 bit. For example, uncompressed can be either 8 or 10bit.

    Unless you know the history, is there a way though Properties, Inspectors etc that will analyze and display if a clip is 8 or 10 bit.
