Thanks for the help guys, I’m running CS6 so I think I will try using their HD color bars and send them to the monitor for calibration.

I also plan to learn more about the scopes so that I can utilize them as much as possible.

When I link to the footage through AMA, the Video column reads “H.264 (1080p 23.976)” for the Panasonic HMC150’s footage. For the Canon it reads “H.264 (1080i 29.97)”. The Canon says in its literature that it wraps the 24p in 60i.

I was in a 1080/23.976p project when the green dot appeared in the Canon’s footage. Now that I’m in a 1080/29.97 project I of course get a green dot in the Panasonic’s footage.

As I’m trying to transcode the footage into XDCAM 35, now when I try to transcode I get the same message saying “Some clips do not match the edit rate of the current project. Transcode creates new clips that match the current project rate. Because the new edit rate does not match the original clip, you cannot batch capture, batch import, relink or link (via AMA) to these new clips. Convert or skip clips that do not match the edit rate of the project?”

I then am given the option to “convert” “skip” “cancel”. If I convert the Panasonic files to 29.97 will that cause any issues in quality?

I guess being new to Avid, I don’t want to make a mistake when converting the footage, then once I get finish with the edit realize that I made a mistake when transcoding and have to start all over.

I was using 10.0.3 until 10.0.4 was released. I then updated to 10.0.4. The crashing and corruption issues actually happened a few days after updating to 10.0.4.

Thanks so much for that information. I’m hoping that in the next 6-8 months I can afford a better solution than the Spyder 3 for doing color correction. However, until I can do that, your advice may be a really good temporary solution for me. Since beginning my production company, I’ve been trying to make the most of the equipment that I have until I can make the necessary upgrades.

Thanks for your help. I actually purchased the Pro version and then upgraded to the Elite so I am able to create profiles. I went ahead and selected the target “ITU-R Rec. BT 709” and selected the Gray Balance to be “On”. It then asked me to place the Spyder on the monitor so I let it do it’s thing. Then once it completed I just saved the profile.

I’ll need to do some research to find out more about REC 709 and sRGB as those terms are fairly new to me.

Was there anything that I just did that I should have done differently? (i.e. Selected “Iterive” instead of “On” for Gray Balance)

I’m brand new to Media Composer (from FCP) – Is it possible to do Multiclip editing with files that are linked using AMA?

If not, is the only way to use the Multiclip function by importing ProRes files and going through the process you’ve described?

Do all file formats have to be wrapped in MXF in order to work with (without using AMA)?

If you do decide that your best option is to uninstall Livetype and Motion, this program has worked well for me in the past:

Just make sure you only select the exact programs that you want to uninstall and uncheck the boxes of programs you with to keep. Otherwise you’ll need to uninstall everything and reinstall FCS
