Yikes, Matt! Sorry to hear about your tech guy bailing.

Lots of questions. How long is your movie? How do you intend to display the movie (i.e. play a QT off a computer or from a DVD)? Do you know anything about Compressor? (Do you have Compressor?)

I don’t know anything about FCE, but if I had cut the film in FCP, I’d export via Compressor and choose a preset suitable to the length, then create a DVD in DVDSP.

Hope that helps point you in the right direction.
    Good luck!

    Hi, Bram

A couple of suggestions for you:

    1) FCP has a function called Media Manager which is designed to track down all the media used in your project and consolidate in a single location of your choosing (such as an external hard drive). Not all of us use it, trust it or agree with the philosophy behind it, but it’s there. You might want to read about it in the manual and decide if it will work for you.

    2) Shane Ross has a DVD in the Cow Master’s series entitled “Getting Organized in Final Cut Pro” which you might consider purchasing. It’s full of good advice.

    3) You might consider posting your questions on the Cow’s “Final Cut Pro Basics” forum until you get a little more familiar with the program and how it works.

    4) At the top of each forum page is a search box. If you try it, you may find that many of your questions have been asked and answered before.

    Good luck and happy editing!

I have a Mac, my wife has a PC, we have no idea on what machine the presentation will be played back–best to assume it will be a PC.

I do not have Keynote on my Mac, but I do have Power Point 2008 for Mac. Do you think we could transfer the .ppt file from her PC, along with her assets, and open the presentation in my Mac and work with QT movies without converting them to WMVs?

Thanks for the response, John–and everybody else, too.

I’m seeing a white screen. And you’re right, the video is in a different folder than the PPT file.

As for the version, it appears to be Office 2003.

    What does all that suggest?

    Thanks in advance.
