Here’s some info from JVC on capturing with Final Cut. Sometimes, when using FC to capture, the capture is stopped by Final Cut part way through the capture. Here’s the reason from JVC. Seems that the BR HD50 deck will fix a bad frame of video when playing but it is not fixed in the firewire output, only on composite and component out is the frame repaired. So when FC gets to that frame, it see no info or partial info and stops the capture. The fix is to get an AJA or Kona card and capture off the Component out of the 50 deck. The software in the 50 deck repairs the frame and Aja or Kona card can capture it using FC Pro Res as a capture setting. Problem solved with the addition of the Aja or Kona card. Footage is still captured via the digital component out of the 50 deck and looks the same, according to JVC.
