Here are my memory settings as well, in case they should be allocated differently.

Tne layer comp, nothing my mac couldn’t handle before. This is why I think I must have accidentally toggled some setting by accident, but can’t find any way to toggle it back.

RT is slow, but is doable on my system, although Fast Draft is usually necessary while working things out.
The comp is for a multi-monitor setup that happens on the Reuters tower in Times Square.

Here are what I think are the relevant screens:

As for updating the Open GL drivers, it is my (shakey) understanding that this is included in OS X updates, and I am up to date in that regard.

January 14, 2013 at 5:16 pm in reply to: AE Disc Cache Question

The other 2tb were going to be for current project files (I like to keep that as a separate disc and use Time Machine to back it up). Sounds like a bad plan now, glad I asked.
    Thanks!

Thought I was ok with my random expression but apparently I wasn’t. Deadline prevents me from digging any deeper into this right now so I have to just finesse my keyframes. Next downtime I get will be devoted to some of your tutorials, thanks so much for your assistance!

Thanks so much for the help, but as clueless as I am about expressions, please explain (if you have time) how I plug in the result value in the first line you posted.

If you tell me that what I am asking displays a basic ignorance of expressions and is beyond the scope of a forum response, well I wouldn’t be terribly surprised…

June 3, 2012 at 4:43 pm in reply to: Need advice on MacPro upgrade: RAM vs SSD

I mainly do motion graphics for short format projects that don’t require huge amounts of video assets on my end; I mainly deal in AI and PSD for assets, with the occasional clip thrown in. I really appreciate your advice, and probably would have gone the dual-SSD route had I read that before ordering. That being said, a number of people have told me that 10gb is woeful on an eight-core machine doing AE work, although speed has never been a hindrance until now.
