  • Andrew Riebe posted here in the Creativecow forums that he was able to record uncompressed, 10bit 1080p 30fps using the Hyperdeck Shuttle 2. He used a Dell Precision M4700 laptop with NVidia Quadro 1000M graphics.

  • This would be my setup:

Shure SM7B mic -> Presonus AudioBox 22VSL USB 2.0 audio interface -> Blackmagic Hdmi to Sdi 4K -> Hyperdeck Shuttle 2 -> PC monitor

Also as long as my audio interface is set to output 24bit audio (which it can) and I’ve set HDMI from my PC to 24bit, then the Hyperdeck will record 24bit audio correct?

    Thanks

That’s really disappointing that I would only be able to record in ProRes and not uncompressed.

I had looked at Dell monitors but I didn’t think they could be connected to the Hyperdeck. The manual for your monitor shows support for YPbPr not YCbCr which I didn’t think were compatible:
    Page 15:
Input Color Format: YPbPr: Select this option if your DVD player supports YPbPr only.
    ftp://ftp.dell.com/Manuals/all-products/esuprt_display_projector/esuprt_Display/dell-e2414h_User's Guide_en-us.pdf

But if you say it’s working I believe you, I’m just a bit confused about the differences between YPbPr and YCbCr.

Also I thought that monitoring through the recorder could create a delay that might unsync the audio and video.

  • So you have done this and can confirm it works? Are you using a production monitor or just a PC monitor? If your using a PC monitor what splitter are your using?

    Thanks

Thank you very much! and a video also, great! That’s a very nice laptop but with a hefty price! ($1,500) I was planning on building a desktop and for that price I can build a really good one. (no disrespect intended) I know, with performance comes cost. Well, I now know at least one computer/graphics chip that will work with the Hyperdeck Shuttle 2.

Please! if anyone else has been able to record HDMI out from their computer (PC/MAC, desktop or laptop) with the Hyperdeck Shuttle 2, please post here with specs.

    Thanks again Andrew!

    Andrew,

    1) What graphics card did you use?
    2) What computer? specs?
    3) I don’t see any option in the Nvidia control panel to use YUV color. This is on a cheap old Acer R3610 net-top but it doesn’t look like Nvidia has changed their control panel since. I even looked at the latest manual for their workstation class cards:

NVIDIA Control Panel for Quadro Professional Drivers: DU-05524-331_v02 | October 28, 2013, User’s Guide

    Thanks
