Just highlight and copy the URL from your browswer window and paste it into the Message area here at the cow… (or just type in the URL into the Message box here at cow). When you post it automatically gets the blue link and is linked to that page.
It’s magic! 😉

Yup. I can’t say I remembered on what spot though.
And there was some Motion stock stuff used on the bonus footage on the “Million Dollar Baby” DVD.

That card is the issue. It is low on the motion totum pole. Check the recommended system https://www.apple.com/finalcutstudio/motion/specs.html
The key with motion is the graphics card. It is where ALL the heavy lifting is done.

“””Get a copy of COMBUSTION and call it a day”””
Peter, LOL! Funny, but not as nice and not as helpful as Richard.
I couldn’t get any real good comparisons from folks all over the net about the various compositors on the market. This was about 18 months ago. What I found was that most folks used one as their main app and knew it well. Some used two, but I couldn’t find anyone that really used all of them. So I decided to do that myself.
BTW, a very expensive and time consuming experiment. But I can safely say that after running through Shake 3.5, Combustion 3, After Effects 6.5 Pro and Motion 1 & 2 … they all have great features and they all lack features. The last app on my list I will get and learn is Fusion 5 which isn’t released yet and the most expensive of the bunch (and seems to have the most compelling all around feature set).
Of the four that I have run through over the last 12 months… Motion is the most intuitive to use.

I haven’t worked out pricing yet. “Reasonable” is my target. Or I might just make them throw ins with the training CD.

Ram is a funny thing. I pull apple’s ram as well.
I recently bought an additional G5. I put 4 gigs of Ramjet.com ram into it after pulling all the apple ram. Now this Ram is specifically made for G5s as you’ll see from their website. These 4 Gigs were previously in my single 1.6 Ghz G5 and all was fine. But I was having constant crashes and couldn’t load a single app without it crashing during install.
So I pulled the 4 gigs of Ramjet ram, put it back into my single 1.6 Ghz G5 and then put the standard apple ram back in the dual 2.5 G5 and wouldn’t you know it everything worked perfectly again. In fact I added 1 Gig of Corsair XMS to the dual G5 which doesn’t even match the 512mb ram that came with the G5, and things have been running flawlessly for two weeks.
So RAM is in fact a funny creature. The single 1.6 Ghz G5 is running perfectly with the same 4 Gigs of ram that the dual G5 wouldn’t run with. Go figure.

I’ve asked folks to post what “themes” previously. Give me an idea of what industry/themes you’d like to see if you could put your 2cents in. Anyone should chime in for that matter.
I don’t want to hear after the fact… “why didn’t you do a SUCH AND SUCH template”. So speak up now!
Regardless of what folks voice I’ve been creating some themes in my spare time for Motion. No set date on a release though, I do keep seeing this ‘additional’ template request surfacing around the net. And for good reason. It is a huge time saver for folks who don’t have it to burn.

Brian,
After Effects is a warrior. It ain’t going anywhere and I’m sure version 7 will have great new bells and whistles as well. Your time will be well spent with that app. Down the road if you add a mac to your game, you can use Motion files natively in AE. Which makes Motion one of the best and coolest “plug-ins” available for AE 😉
