He used the Black solids to produce the Fractal Noise patterns, they need to be on a layer. I think he could have started with any color solid (Ctrl Y) as the color disappears when you add Fractal Noise. He has two layers because they are different at some times, and reinforce each other at others (like stacking modes in PS). You’ll figure it out.

Did you download the Project Files from his tut?
Open, Displacement_Part_1_AE_65.aep
The Table comp is where he does the Force Field, with Fractal Noise, Spherize and more. Pick the comp apart, see what makes it tick. Try to recreate it step by step.
The rain drops in the intro looks like it could be using CC Drizzle as a displaement on the wet street, or maybe since Aharon is a Particle Illusion guy, using a raindrop patters (a PI preset, or his modification) as a displacement layer.

Add a null layer, name it “camera controls”.
To the null, add two sliders(Effec t> Expression Controls > Slider Control), one named Amplitude, one Frequency (or whatever you want).
In your wiggle expression, wiggle(.5,.5), highlight the first “.5” and then pickwhip to the Frequency Slider, do the same for the second “.0” to the Amplitude Slider, and your expression should look something like this:
wiggle(thisComp.layer(“camera controls”).effect(“Frequency”)(“Slider”),thisComp.layer(“camera controls”).effect(“Amplitude”)(“Slider”))
Now you can keyframe both The Frequency and Amplitude of your wiggle expression, via the slider in the “camera controls” layer.
Note: if the controls are to course or too fine, right click the Amount (0 if reset) then Edit Value, and change the minimum and maximum to taste.
Wow, expressions are cool.

How I’d do it.
Dup the layer (Ctrl D).
Draw a mask around the head (Pen tool). Now rotate the layer (R). The head rolls off, but probably not like you want, unless the layer
