ohh… I thought that what ever you have DVDA Bitrate set to, that’s what would be rendered (regardless of if the format fit DVDA specs or not). That makes sense now 😉

Scratch that, you can change the time format in DVDA5. You right click on the ruler right above the timeline and right below the marker names (right where the yellow slider slection thingies slide on).

Set it to time and frames to match to match SV’s SMPTE Drop (29.97 fps, Video).

I have one other issue, the video sound plays on the menu. How do get it to NOT 🙂 I think if I start a new project it wouldn’t because once again, I think I clicked something without knowing it. Maybe it has something to do with the green loop slider on the menu bar? But I just want to know.

Well, I don’t think DVDA’s time format can be changed. It must be set to auto or something dumb like that. If I remember correctly, the time I got the same exact time display on both DVDA and SV (1:10:00:00), I renamed/moved the marker/video file (same name) b4 I put it in DVDA. I think that was the time that the same time displayed.

But I was having an issue with the markers opening up in DVDA, in fact they didn’t open at all. So I read up on it and heard that your not really suppose to move or rename the SV rendered files. So that’s why it was not opening my markers (even though they were changed to same name, new place). But yes, at that time the time format was the same as SV strangely. Then I re-rendered and did not rename or move and the markers loaded just fine into scene selection.

So I think I will leave SV as Drop neways, because the markers seem to stay put in proper place (maybe because I have Insert I frames at markers checked?). But it’s dumb that you can change time format in DVDA5.

I figured it out with surfing the tron. Vegas was set to SMPTE Drop (29.97 fps, Video) which is what I will keep it at, I was getting 1:10:00:00.

I changed it to SMPTE Non-Drop (29.97 fps, Video) to see what time I would get and it turned out to be the exact time/frame I was getting in DVDA which was 1:09:55:24.

To change you right click on the actual time in SV, goto time format…

But now I just want to find out how to set DVDA to this time format aswell. It would have drove me nuts if I could not figure it out, even though I was pretty sure it wasn’t cutting my movie in anyway. I must have changed the time format somehow by accident, because I had time at 1:10:00:00 for a different render of the same video in DVDA. But if somebody could tell me how to change the time format in DVDA that would be great, and answer my previous question 🙂

On top of my last question, I need to know why DVDA says my video is 5 seconds shorter than it actually is. The first time I loaded a video into DVDA the time was time/length was correct. But just now everytime I put a video in it says it is like 5 seconds shorter than it is, but it is at the same end frame??????????????? Why

Maybe it’s because I am rendering part 2 of my video into the same folder right now, so DVDA is being a weiner about it? Any ideas?

Okay thanks guys, I was just under the impression that variable would be better to use because it can fluctuate and such. But I guess I will just use CBR. And I am going to go 8M now 🙂

I have sony vegas 10 Pro (build e), along with DVD Architect Pro 5.

My plan is to do a two part render of a 2hr 20min video. Video 8M/Audio 224kbps MainConcept MPEG2/Dolby AC-3 Pro in SV. I will render the same specs in DVDA, and the file sizes will exceed my dual 4.7gb (4.3gb) target. I have heard that it is not a good idea to use the fit to file or even the percentage feature in DVDA because it i way off or something.

So I was going to render the slightly oversized file anyways and use DVD Shrink to make it fit instead. Then JoinVobFiles to make a proper digital copy plus of course make a DVD in ImgBurn using the VIDEO_TS files.

So I guess I want your opinions on whether or not this is a dumb idea or not? Because I don’t really want to get into using a bitrate calculator to render proper size out of vegas for DVD. How would that even work neways? Because in DVDA you would just have to pick a CBR again? Do you guys right click on the file to look at what the total bitrate is, and input it into DVDA? Is that how that works? Thanks.
