Hector… really appreciate the reply. This problem occurred awhile ago and has been resolved. I honestly can’t remember what we did, but we may have somehow been able to reset it as you suggested. Anyway, mahalo for the response.

  • I used to cut on Avid back in the 1900s… and loved it. I just liked the way Avid thought. I remember trashing preferences, etc. when we had problems… any solutions like that with premiere?

  • Aloha Stefan…
Oddly, about two hours ago, we encountered nearly the same problem you did. Computer crashed, and subsequently we received the same message you did… project couldn’t be loaded… it may be damaged, etc. We’ve reloaded premiere, signed out, rebooted, signed back in, etc, etc. No luck. All auto-saves for the past six weeks are apparently corrupt as well. Hope somebody has some ideas for us.

I posted this a couple months ago, and have heard no response from any of you gurus… anybody have a clue about batch capturing on FCP7? Mahalo in advance.

well, yes we’re salvaging the program at the replicators… they have an intact QuickTime they can grab that section from and lay it in… but FCP6 is apparently badly corrupted. I did finally get the app to open using a new user name, but it still gave me numerous (like six or seven) permissions denied to a variety of different things. when I finally got the program open, and could see the timeline, many shots were missing. something happened the first time I tried to open it earlier. I was able to access the scratch disk page and thot I’d uncheck the raid (it’s the only drive I have), and when I did so I was warned that something had to be selected. I proceeded, unchecked all the boxes, and when I did so, the raid went from .5TB to 2.5TB space available. somehow, 2TB of media either disappeared or is just not showing up. hence, I assume, the loss of shots in the sequence. I will shortly have a copy of FCP7 and be able to do a quick install and see if I can open my program there. think that will work… will an FCP6 project open in FCP 7?
If that seems to be working ok, I will then try to reconnect the missing media or do further research into where it has gone. I can do without the show playing correctly for now, but ultimately will have to get all the pieces back together. oh, and to answer ur question, mark… I repaired permissions on the internal drive, but disk utility will not let me repair permissions on the raid for whatever reason. more will be revealed. thanks for ur input… please let me know if you have additional thots. mahalo, mick

thanks, dave… did that, and there were numerous repairs made to the internal drive permissions, but that didn’t solve the equation. FCP still crashes after about four seconds of opening.

Finally figured this problem out, btw… even though the blackmagic capture preset was correct… 1080, 29.97… vid was actually being captured at 50fps. go figgah. even showed up in the bin as 29.97. but after blowing out media and batch capturing, the details on the batch capture window said 50fps. must have gotten corrupted somehow. anyway, re-built the pre-set to 29.97 and all is well. what a bizarre problem. big mahalo to everyone who tried to help me!

SUCCESS!!! Finally figured out what’s been going on with my FCP. some how the BlackMagic 59.94 ProRes capture preset changed itself to record 50 FPS instead of either 59.94 or 29.97! That’s y it would play in a 29.97 timeline, but needed to be rendered… and when rendered it would either disappear entirely, or play very quickly. I reset the preset to record 29.97 and now everything is right with the world! Amazing how one little thing can throw my whole world into a state of disarray!!! Mahalo for all the suggestions, guys… really appreciate ur help. Have some great hollandaise, ok? Aloha!!!

I’ve never used anything but the text tool in FCP, but my editor has… I’ll ask him.

yep… did that too. re-captured just a small portion again…
put it into another sequence, added the bug, rendered, plays fast.
repeated same drill except exported the small, imported it, put it in a new sequence, added the bug, rendered, plays fast. what now?
plays fine w/o render… but have to render to make a qt to make a dvd. maybe I can lay off to tape w/o rendering, re-capture and not have to render it prior to exporting. I’ll try that and see what happens. this is getting old.
