Is this a possible solution: changing the sequence setting to apple prores 422, then render everything? That would take me about an hour.

Just gave this a try, maybe I’m doing something wrong:
right now the duration of the project is about 7 minutes
When I open the media manager, my original file size is about 20 gig,converting to Apple Prores 422 about doubles that. And it would take me 7 hours, time I don’t have.Any solution or am I screwed?

ALright, thanks, I’m gonna give this a try. Is it normal that recompressing to Prores 422 delivers a bigger file than the original?

Thanks for the reply, could you go more into detail as to how I can “Media Manage and recompress” my project? I’m really a Final Cut rookie, have edited a couple of projects but am not so experienced with all the specifics, and am running out of time a bit. Thanks alot!

It all worked out in the end: my final export as Apple Prores 422 25p worked perfectly, without any skips or steppy edges and it looks great. The screening was a huge succes (it was a screening for a school jury, including Belgian director Stijn Coninx, the jury and the other students loved it.)

So I exported as Apple Prores 422 1080p25
but the export gives me, when I play it using quicktime player on my macbook, a skippy file… It doesn’t “flow” smoothly.
What did I do wrong? -

I will try this and let you know if it worked out. The cinema unfortunately only plays DVD.
As I told you before I’m a noob when it comes to this stuff… Could you tell me which Prores 422 setting I should select? There are a load of options (LT, HQ , Pal, NTSC, …)Thanks!
