Thanks – the delivery page TC input tip is just such a massive help.
Why are we still asking for such a simple thing after all this time – It’s pretty embarrassing when I have to explain to clients that you can’t enter TC in Resolve (really?!?). Makes the software sound amateur which BM can’t want, surely.

Lightspace CMS and the best probe you can afford would be my advice.
I originally bought Chromapure to calibrate my projector (which has it’s own CMS) but I had to bend the curves pretty far out of shape to get close to calibrated. I had it calibrated by a pro (using chromapure) and he did a lot better than me but in the end felt that it wasn’t close enough.
After using Lightspace I feel confident that we have a truly calibrated system (there is also a FSI monitor in the room calibrated by Lightspace and they look identical) which is what were after.

Now 10 is out of beta I’d expect Resolve Collect to be updated ASAP.
You could always conform in v9 and save an XML if you have access to it now.https://www.niwa.nu/resolve-collect/

November 7, 2013 at 5:31 pm in reply to: anyone having success with neat plugin and R10I read on the Neat forum they’re working on it.
I for one am going to let them finish and release ‘Neat for Resolve’ rather than bashing my head against a brick wall thinking that the OFX one will just suddenly work.M

November 6, 2013 at 12:10 pm in reply to: copy only flagged clips to a new timeline…Hi Peter,
A flag feature that I’d love to see would be render flagged clips as single clip when exporting image sequences. I realise that this would be confusing for movie files as the TC jumps around but would be a massive help on image sequences.
Here’s why:
I have a feature that I’ve rendered as a TIFF sequence as Name_Frame number (title_0090000 etc) and then there are, say 20 tweaks to do following feedback from the Producer. If i flag the 20 clips, correct them and then try to export from a ‘view flags only’ timeline I can only export as source files which won’t give the frames the correct naming structure to copy over the ‘bad’ frames.
I’m left making a 20 deep batch render with in and out points which can’t be double checked once you’ve added it to the list and is easy to mess up at 11pm.

For delivering a DCDM Tiff sequence use the the rec709 to DCI XYZ LUT as an output LUT in settings from a rec709 project. Render out 16bit RGB tiffs at your delivery size.
The XYZ tiff option is confusing but in a thread about this some time ago, one of the sage members of this group identified the above as the correct workflow. Actually, I often do the XYZ transform in easyDCP from a 709 colorspace RGB tiff sequence but if your client requires a proper DCDM then that means XYZ. Smaller producers that aren’t just filling in the spec from a distributor have sometimes wanted an RGB DCDM as it’s more useful (for things other than DCP) but I think it might not be officially a DCDM in that case.

Yes,
I follow the rec709 workflow but I believe that to be correct. I know there are a few people on here that follow that workflow and will hopefully confirm when America wakes up.
I’m amazed that you are grading P3 on the 2461W. When I profiled mine with Lightspace I found the panel couldn’t quite show P3 green in the x axis even in WIDE GAMUT profile.

yes,
A 16 bit tiff in XYZ space is good for DCDM but you actually want to render 16 bit tiff RGB with a rec709 to XYZ LUT on the output if you are monitoring in Rec709. I believe the tiff XYZ is for rendering from P3.

Hi
What are the NR settings for the candle test?
I’ve opened the project in v10b1 (have an undelivered project in limbo so not moving to b3) and the see spatial NR is a 0.0
I’m setting them to a arbitrary medium 10 for now as I’m really wanting to compare pre/post a hardware upgrade.

Hi Sascha,
That is fair enough but the price tag is steep and I feel that the toolset is too expansive for a Colourist. I have made the point to Genarts that a cut down Sapphire of the more useful tools for a grader at a lower price point might result in a lot more sales. I can’t see how to easily use many things in the context and time constraints of a client attended grade session and other things just don’t work correctly within Resolve. The transitions for instance can’t be added to the edit page and in the Color page just transition to black rather than alpha.
