March 11, 2013 at 10:10 pm in reply to: How can I get files / Clips from Canon XF300 camera into FCPX…. Has the x import utility which wil import and the transcode.
Alternatively use the XF utility to import the MXFs then use Resolve to transcode to Prores.

At a guess it sounds like P2 cards are FAT 32 file system which has a 4GB file size limit. Usually the format manufacture (Sony, Panasonic etc) has an import utility which reads the card and joins the discrete clips together. Usually via an XML or index file.

Open the file in QT 7 and then look in the movie inspector. That should show how many audio tracks you have.
You could duplicate the clip, attach it to the master clip and set it to a different role. Then when you export the file select roles seperate audio tracks and then assign the duplicate clip an alternative role.
Seems a tad over complicated – any ideas why?

[Bill Davis] “Not buying these arguments, Herb. And look at the very terms you’ve felt compelled to use here. earphones “can” lead to… and laptops “can” hide unwanted details… thats true. But it’s equally true that these tools can also work fabulously. “
Nope, sorry I agree with Herb.
I’ve missed small things by cutting on laptop screens before and there’s no way even my HD25’s in a noisy environment can match either my PMC’s or Fostex 6301’s.
Even today I was looking at a blur effect on something, looked great on the laptop but when I put it on the big screen.. terrible!

But think of the technical problems…
Thunderbolt carries display port but how do you run output from an external gfx card back to the thunderbolt port?
Or do you take display out of thunderbolt.

I just like the ballistics of a proper PPM – also from what I understand PPmulator is very very accurate.
I had it working on my old system with Soundflower and FCP 7 but I can’t seem to get Soundflower or Audio Hi Jack Pro to work on my current 10.8 system.

I use Chronosync to sync my main work drive to a folder on a Drobo.. works fine and even if the drobo is online FCP X doesn’t read the backup as its hidden below the root level.

[Oliver Peters] ” you are experiencing similar issues, the workaround seems to be either not to use these plug-ins or to render to 8-bit uncompressed. So far, I have tested both of these options with success.
“Oliver, I’ve been having the odd problems to when doing similar intensive procession (Multicam, Keying, color etc). I’ve had some weird one’s like a frame flipping upside down for no reason.
Haven’t been using the filters except SliceX.
I was wondering if it was the speed of my system but I guess not.
