I went out and got a 9pin cable and so far so good! Those clips had no problem this morning! That’s so weird to me but it seems to be working!
Thanks for your help.

I don’t have a straight 9 pin serial cable to try that.
It’s funny that the clips will digitize fine and the timecode and reel number are there. I can open those clips in Sebsky tools and verify that there is a timecode track and reel ID. But then when I close FCP and open it up again some of the clips lose that timecode track and reel ID as verified in Sebsky. The exact same clip that had timecode and reel ID now do not (after re-opening the FCP project)

The deck is the industry standard Sony DVW-A500 DigiBeta. Has RS422, the default in device control is drop frame but it picks up what’s on the tape and digitizes whatever it is. Most of the tapes are DF (SD TV Episodes).

It was happening with my Blackmagic Decklink Studio 2 as well as the AJA IO Express that I just got. Digitizing with a Sony A500 SD SDI in, Keyspan USA-28X B serial adapter for deck control. Source tapes are DigiBeta. Sending 525 sync to the deck. I have all the latest drivers for everything, FCP 7.0.3. Trashed prefs many times.

August 18, 2011 at 6:51 pm in reply to: Video lag on external monitor with IO ExpressRebuilt as in DiskWarrior? If that’s the case I just did that last week. Is there another tool I could use?
I had a Blackmagic Decklink Extreme 2 for a little over a year. That worked fine HD and SD. I got the IO Express because I do a lot of Avid work as well. I uninstalled the Decklink drivers and restarted before I installed the IO Express. Would a different slot make a difference?
I have my graphics card (Radeon X1900) in slot 1, nothing in slot 2, Slot 3 is the AJA card, and slot 4 is a Sonnet Tempo E4P SATA card (just updated the drivers).
WAIT! Updating the Sonnet drivers did it! OK that’s weird how it only effected FCP and not Avid.
Thanks for all your help, if you hadn’t asked me about me more about my system I wouldn’t have looked at that card and then thought about the drivers.

August 18, 2011 at 4:37 pm in reply to: Video lag on external monitor with IO ExpressWell it happens on timelines where there are no MP3 files as well, just a 2 channel 48K 16 bit stereo mixdown.

August 18, 2011 at 4:15 pm in reply to: Video lag on external monitor with IO ExpressThis audio is anything from the camera audio at 48K to a mixed mixdown to MP3s. Some timelines are a mix of everything some are just a 2 channel mixdown. I’ve tried mixing down the video tracks but no luck.

I know this is an old thread but here goes:
I love the above expression, I’m doing a credit roll 1920×1080 29.97 frames/sec. When I employ the expression it works but when I render it I only get a progressive render output. I set it to render upper field first but the render comes out as if I had set it to no fields. I’ve been using AE for many years so understand it.
When there is no expression it renders with fields no problem. it seems like you used to be able to just dial in 180 pix/sec but now can’t seem to find that function.

Late on the chain but what monitor would you recommend for around $1000?
Multi-format, HDMI, possibly SDI (or the option), the usual analog inputs.
Thanks
