Thank you once again Vince. Your advice is clear and to the point. I will go and get the AVS video converter as you suggested. When computers are involved, things never seem to work the way they’re supposed to the first time around, but I do understand the value of persistence. Thank you for taking the time to respond to my questions Vince. It is appreciated. I noticed that you’ve helped a lot of people with your background of video editing knowledge. I have filled out system details in my profile as you suggested. The footage I am having difficulty with is indeed an .avi file. I have two files totalling about one hour of video at just over 20 Gigs of raw data. Far too large a file size to be storing them. I was hoping to compress this footage to a smaller file size format with Premier. Is there something I should do before importing? I have full intentions of taking a Premier course as soon as I can that I might better utilize my editing time but for now I am in need of a way to convert these large .avi files down to something smaller, while maintaining video quality. Thanks again for your help.
