Thank you so much for this. Your brief explanation flipped a switch in my understanding of the render menu that fixed a number of things that were not behaving as I expected.

Before posting a question, I search to see if it’s been asked. Modern answers to old posts may not be high priority to the original person who asked, but odds are fairly good that people are still having the problem, so a modern answer will be found by modern seekers.
