Hello Mr. Refrano, I have contacted MovieStuff and was informed that since the video looks and plays correctly in Windows Media Player, it is probably that Sony Vegas is “seeing” this a rectangular pixels instead of square. I’ll keep scratching my bald head to try to come up with a solution. Anyway, thank for your time and input. It is truly appreciated.

Mr. Rofrano, sorry I haven’t replied until now. Hopefully, the following will help find a solution:

I digitalize 8mm and Super 8mm film. The setup is being converted to HD and away from SD since that is the trend people want. I have an HD Canon camcorder pointed at the film gate of a projector. The projector has been altered by a company called MovieStuff (https://www.moviestuff.tv). In summary, the HD camcorder, projector, and special computer with software captures each frame as a Motion JPEG. The Motion JPEGs are time adjusted so that movement by people in the video is natural and not too fast nor too slow. When I was using the Canon GL-2 for Standard Definition, there was not a problem. Now, as mentioned before, the video is one half the height of what it should be but the length is correct. So everything is the video looks as though someone “squashed” it down.

The codec used for this was Mainconcept 2.4.16

After dropping the video on the time and right-clicking, Properties window pops up. Stream Properties are: Format: Sony Motion JPEG Attributes: 1920x1080x24 Pixel Aspect Ratio: 1.0000

File properties of the video are: 1920×1080

Again, I am at a loss as to what to do. Any help, would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for your reply. Sony is an excellent software program that has served me well for many different projects. I was simply “reaching for the stars” in trying to convert VHS tapes to look very well on HDTV. As a side note: Your training videos on VASST have been a tremendous help for me…….many thanks for your excellent presentations on those videos.
