    I do not need all the MP4 footage. I tend to watch the footage to pick out the best bits as a lot of the footage is not in focus. If I understand you correctly, your suggestion is to scan through the footage for the bits that I want, and to render those regions using either a MXF or Lagarith codec (neither of which I have heard of, showing my ignorance here!). I’m guessing then the idea would be to begin editing my project using those rendered regions, which may lead to less lag in the preview window than the original source media? Apologies if I’ve misunderstood. I’m assuming I would not have any loss in video quality (or minimal) using this approach?
