    Ben,

I have just been working on a show with lots of slowed PAL shots from digi beta. I SDI recaptured the online images from a DV offline version which made verything upper field and found that a lot of slo mos looked a bit juddery unless the frame blend in the time remap section was ticked. It smoothed them a lot. Partiulalrly bad were the 50% slo mos.

The original judder was not as bad as fields reversed. I also noticed the shift fields filter had sometimes appeared (and had to be deleted), but assumed the original editor had put it in.

    Thanks Oliver.

I will download the plug in and try it out. Meanwhile I was able to source a JPEG of the logo which will do, but I am a bit surprised that Discovery were only offering an AAF. With MXF and all the other competing interchange formats, life is going to be full of Auto Duck fixes methinks.

From your cryptic description, it sounds like the there was a slightly delayed feed of the host audio back into the desk. This would sound like a stranger phase doubling, making it sound ‘tinny’.

No filter can help with that scenario. At best you can EQ to add low frequency, but the phase situation can’t be unmixed

Do the vari speed, trim the audio to where you want it to start and stop. Lay the normal speed audio (just the audio – deselect the video) where you want it.

Easy way to do this is to select your clip in the viewer, press APPLE+OPTION+F to load the original normal clip into the viwer (without the speed up), mark and then overwrite. Might be safer to put the normal audio onto a seperate track.

Did you try to patch the AES audio from the digi beta into the Decklink and change it to AES input?

  • I would leave the sequence at 29.97 and try de-interlace on the footage shot 29.97i to match the 23.98p. There are better deinterlacers than FCP built in ones. I am about to purchase Nattress film effect filters on the strength of raves about de-interlacing.

What do you need to deliver though? a 29.97 master or 23.98?

I have a keyboard with FCP keycaps with all the shortcut legends. I also found online a pdf with all the FCP keystrokes mapped. If you do a search I am sure you can find it. I also use the Shuttle Pro2, a usb device that plugs into the keyboard, which lets you program buttons and has a jog shuttle wheel

Good timing Bob. I discovered the same bug last night trying to do an insert into an HDCam deck. The out point was on the frame where a fade out/ fade up was happening and it drove me nuts until I moved the outpoint to a straight cut. We repeated the bug on and 1800 and a digi 2000.

Might have more luck at the Automatic Duck forum. Unless the Duck converts Nuendo to an FCP project, then I don’t think you will have any luck as FCP won’t import an OMF.
