I now have Vegas 13 64bit working with all files I throw at it except the mp4 video files from the Blackberry Q10. When I drop the files into the timeline only the video track appears – no audio. I think the BB Q10 video uses AAC audio codec.

One fix I found online was to remove, or rename the compoundplug folder in the Vegas FileIO Plug-Ins folder. Yes, the .mp4 audio tracks start to show on the timeline as normal.By disabling the compoundplug folder, Vegas then uses the qt7plug.dll for mp4 files.

But the trade-off in this fix is that HD mxf files no longer work in the timeline – audio tracks only, no video.

I hope Sony can fix this issue in the next build of VP13.

Well you were right Steve. It seems that VP11 64bit has issues with either Win 8.1 or working in a 64 bit environment.

My son has VP13 64bit running on a x64 platform laptop with Win 8.1 and it had no issues opening the mxf files from my camera.

So hence I’ve upgraded to VP13 on the XPS15 and all is well. Very stable and it renders at blistering speeds. I have to fix the avi issue and that will do me.

Yes, 99% of the editing on previous computer was with .mxf files from the camera. Never had a problem.

I will try a re-install and see what happens.

Hi John, my previous computer was a Core i3 with Nvidia GT425M and Vegas 11 32bit ran like a dream. Never had any problems and although many don’t approve, I had the ffdshow codec pack installed with no issues.

I edit files from a GoPro, a dashcam and mobile phones so I needed the extra codecs. As I said, all ran like clockwork.

Gspot indentifies the.mxf files as MPEG2 but says “codec not installed”. Weird, because XDCAM Viewer and WMP play them fine.

Also, in Vegas XDCAM Explorer, highlighting a clip brings up “stream attributes could not be determined, MPEG-2 HD 35Mbps (VBR) – HQ.

It seems that Vegas is not “seeing” the codecs that WMP and XDCAM Explorer are seeing.
