    Hi all,

Just wanted to thank you for your help and responses. As it was getting late last night, I signed off for the night and a classmate helped me this morning. I ended up using MPEG Streamclip, and she knew what the settings were supposed to be.

I’m sorry – I didn’t know there were beginner forums and I understand why this question would have been annoying to those of you who actually know what you are doing!

    Thanks again for your help.

I don’t understand how just telling me it’s just “elemental” is going to help anything. I am new to video so anything seems like a challenge at this point. I researched all afternoon and although I know my flip camera videos are in MP4 format, I don’t know what format I need to be able to use it in FCP. I went into Compressor but had no idea what to do, so I looked that up but didn’t find anything that I understood or that even resembled step-by-step instructions. I don’t even know where to start, and I was hoping that by posting here someone could at least point me in the general direction.

Thanks … I did try searching, but didn’t find anything. Thing is – I also looked up how to use compressor but couldn’t figure that out either! That’s why I posted here …
