You’re probably burning the DVD out of the authoring app, and it ignores the non-spec files. Don’t. Just use Nero or the like and manually put your PDF in the root directory of the disc.

October 23, 2007 at 10:16 pm in reply to: Trying to make copies of DLT sets with DVD After EditThe best ripper to use is DVD Shrink. You can set it to leave everything alone and only remove CSS – don’t remove user ops, etc… The resulting 2048 de-CSS’s VOBS will go out of AE to tape as 2054, with CSS flag, if you enable it. Also, once you run your VOBs through Shrink, I bet your audio will be fine.

October 23, 2007 at 4:58 pm in reply to: Trying to make copies of DLT sets with DVD After Edit2054 image flagged for CSS is also partially scrambled. This must be what you’re experiencing. I think Gear Mastering can help you remove the flag and convert to 2048.

I believe you have to strip CSS first from your image, and then reapply it with AE. I’d recommend sending support an email though – they’re very responsive.

Download MPEGStreamclip (free), drag your VOBs into it, export to AIFF.

Sandra,
You can reconstruct the project via DVD re-author, given you or a vendor you know has a Scenarist system. Re-author will take all the menus, videos, and audio on the disc and make a Scenarist project out of them. You can then use a tool like MPEG video wizard by Womble to edit the mpeg. Womble may or may not work for multi-angled mpegs, as it changes GOP structure.
Then you bring back the edited mpeg2 into Scenarist, move your chapters and cook up a new disc. I’ve had to use re-author on many occasions when original project files are no longer available.Max

I highly doubt it’s the drive, because if it dropped data packets in the process of burning it would be random, not a consistent area of the video. But the only way to really find out is to take that IMG and burn it on another system.

Michael,
Unless you have a DLT drive set-up, you’ll have to find a replicator that will accept your DDP image on a drive. Otherwise, your pressed DVD’s will for sure have the same glitches as your DVD-R.
Part of the replication process involves making the glass master and pressing a few discs from it. If the discs do not play properly, you’ll have to resubmit the DDP and pay for another glass master.
We’re in NY, by the way, and take a look at your DVD.
