There are plenty of other methods to distribute HD content, but all of them have pros and cons and compatibility limitations, not to mention varying degrees of simplicity (or lack there of) for the end user. A good solution to deliver HD content to a client should start with several questions about what they intend to do with it and the best solution will likely be different for each project.

It’s hard to picture the exact scenario, but it sounds like you may need to expand some items and then use the pathfinder tool to subtract the parts that are currently being clipped. This will result in actual shapes and not clipped shapes.

I think I understand what you are trying to do, but I’m not sure I understand where you are encountering the problem. It seems like you would just design your spread in ID so that when you export your PDF for printing, everything is already inverted and ready to go, right?
Wouldn’t that be easier than doing anything after the fact? I must be missing something. Would you mind explaining a bit more?

Sounds like you might be using the Selection tool. You need to use the Direct Select tool. It’s the second “arrow” pointer down in most toolbars.

The settings are all part of the document setup, which you can define when you setup the new file. From InDesign, go File > New > and then you want to input the size as 19cm x 19cm. The margins and bleeds will be defines by the company printing the book for you, but normally a 1/4″ margin and a 1/8″ bleed are acceptable. Again, check with the printer, as sometimes they require a larger size on either the bleed or margin.

Are you looking for a literal template that already has drop zones, styling for the page layouts, styles for the text and paragraphs, image place holders, etc? Or do you just need help setting up a template that has 19″x19″ pages and the appropriate bleeds, margins and number of pages?
If you are looking for the later, no problem, I can walk you through that. If you are looking for the first, I don’t think you will find that. That’s what designers get paid to do.

In Illustrator, go the the Help drop down and select “Welcome Screen.” Once it opens uncheck the box that says “Don’t Show Again.”
It should display every time you open Illustrator now.

Thanks, Alex. I tried using the drag from finder method, but since my total video is over 12 hours, that doesn’t work (since the max per sequence is 12 hours).
I realize I could fill them this way until I got to the end and then count those up, but I was still hoping there would just be a simple way that just displayed it or calculated it somewhere.

Yup – what Steve said. Always avoid having to re-edit or capture something off of DVD if at all possible.
