I did what you said and backed up the render/output module settings and then deleted the prefs with no luck :[

I saved it about 4 times along the way and decided to try and open the first one and the negatives were still everywhere. Then I decided to try starting a new project and they were still there ! crazyness :[

any more ideas ? 🙂

Im not really sure which files are my render settings , output modules and prefs and I dont want to go deleting stuff on a whim :p

Could you point me towards which are which ?

Also this wont hurt my project right ? ive sunk like 30 hours into it over the past week and would be crushed if I lost it.
