    Hey Hector

Whew -yeah that was a lot but I did understand your point- No one really explained it to me like that but I do get it.

Although -with Avid Ive never worked on super big projects so I never saw the point -I always did 30 commercial spots -so I never had a lot of media to deal with –

thanks for all your info though.

    Hey Darin

Well I shoot photography as well as video -my background comes from video but here in Indianapolis -these blue collar workers understand photo more than video. So the 7d is my backup-

Not sure which shoots better video-I havent really tested the 7 yet -I just got it not long ago -but I would imagine the 5 still shoots better because of the full frame and better noise reduction. The 7 is def a contender though being that is was used for all the opening shots of SNL 2009 open credits (look it up)

The 7 does shoot 24p and 60 frames a sec in which you slow that down to 30 frames a sec u get a really nice slow more instead of shooting a normal 30 frames a sec and then slowing that down to 15 frames a second. -I love both cameras -they are like a videographers dream to have a camera do both.

I found this for ya -might be something you might wanna look into –I am –little cheeper than the Glidecam

    Hey Darin

I watched your Hawaii Beach Front video and it looks great -I am curious -Im guessing you shot this with a 5D mark II? I have one as well and a 7D –

Can I ask what steady cam unit you used?-Did you use a Glide Cam unit by chance?

    thanks

HA HA Todd I like your thoughts about firing the guy –

Well when you get hired to do the keying and you had idots that dont know how to shoot on green screen -it does test your skills as a After Effects Genius Wizard ha ha

I literally had a green screen that the lighting was a gradient green at the top to a dark green at the bottom of the screen and the subjects were probably only 3 feet away from the screen

    NIGHTMARE!!!!!!!!!

    thanks for your help

    Matt

PS any secrets to shooting a good green screen shot to sharpin my skills -i normally have about a 2 stop difference between the foreground and background and usually at least 6 to 7 feet away from the green screen

    Hey Todd

I actually thought about it after I sent the message and a hold out matte is what I used on the shelf.
    Thanks for the tips

But now what do you use or do when that keyed out hole you have is in motion, how do you fix the hole then.

    Thanks

  • Hey Eugene

I have done exactly what you are doing -Im not a big photoshop guy either but Todd is right -just set your comp in AE the exact pixels you need your poster to be(for that big you better have a lot of ram)

when you are done creating -export as a single frame -I think I exported as a PNG file (only reason is that with PNG-you can export single layers and keep the alpha channel. Some of my effects i was using weren’t blending together right so I exported individual layers and composited them back together in Photoshop.

once you take your file back in to photoshop after exporting form AE -change your color space for your poster to CMYK -make final adjustments- set image to 300 dpi (ONLY change your DPI not your PIXELS)

save as a JPEG and your done.

The result you get is this poster all done in AEcs3
