    SOLVED!

We cloned the 500GB FireWire disk with carbon copy cloner. Then reopened the project, reconnected media files and hit export. Still no luck. Then we tried export via Compressor and that worked.

Compressor exported the movie in under 15 minutes without any problems.

So we don’t know the exact problem but it had something to do with the disk.

I’m glad it’s all good now. Thanks everyone!

    Oke,

So now i tried exporting via Compressor. After about 5 minutes it stops the export with the following message: “Processing service request error: Final Cut Pro.app generated an error or unexpectedly quit”

    Anybody?

Repaired permissions. No luck! Still slow. Nothing’s changed. I don’t understand why my CPU’s are barely doing a thing during export.

I’ll certanly try that. Thanks! I appreciate your input.

Wich “usual litany of corrective steps to counter FCP weirdness” do you mean?
The things i’ve tried are in my first post. I’ll try anything else.

After about one hour at 0% I cancelled the export. I can change the sequence settings but since it’s not my project I’d rather not. Unless ofcourse it fixes the problem 🙂

    The timeline is fully rendered.

Sorry for my late reply. Another project has come up. I’ll get back to you later this week when I continue this project.

    Tnx.

That’s where I was afraid of… Because there are a lot of keyframes. I hoped I could just edit the mask itself. Because the mask doesn’t have to change trough out the timeline.

    Yeah,

I think I found it. It’s the intro from Snatch:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dlj2LeeBFLE

I’ll make a mix between these two techniques.

    I’ll post it when it’s ready…

    Thanks,

I see what you mean. And I think your technique works. What I forgot to say is that I’m using real videofootage. So no cartoon. The idea stays the same though.

My idea is this: I filmed three man. Each of them will be introduced in the beginning of the film. De first man walks towards the camera. Then I’ll take a still en use your technique. Just key out the person and create a cool background or use the existing background and cartonize it.

I’ve seen this technique a few times but I can’t remember in which movie.

It would help if I have an example from a movie because I only have this cartoon.
