Okay there must be something I am doing wrong because when I send out the files in media manager (there are only merged clips in the browser so I am transferring the merged clips to 422 proxy) they come out split into audio and video and the video can’t even be brought back into FCP. I have no idea how this happened.
Batch export is not working as well because of the timecode problem. it does not recognize the files as the same media and it would take FOREVER to link them cut by cut.
Any chance someone has a detailed step-by-step of how to properly do this?? There must be something I am doing wrong because I feel like this shouldn’t be going wrong every time.

Ok thanks again. I am trying that out now. I’m only doing it to about 10 files of no more than 30 second length and it says that the transfer will take about 2 hours… is there a way to make it faster (are my settings messed up somehow)? Also should I be creating a new project for these files? There is an option to do so, but I didn’t check it because I figured it was unnecessary.

Thank for your help this far everyone! So I tried to batch export files and I placed them on a separate drive away from the original media to see if the new media would connect with it, but then when I tried to reconnect the media FCP told me that some of the attributes of the new file do not match the original (media start/end, reel and number of audio or video tracks). How do I troubleshoot this problem? Also is there a quicker way to reconnect the media then going to each individual file and saying reconnect media (maybe this will be solved once the first question is answered?).

ACTUALLY a different Q… if I don’t have to relink my media then how does it work? I thought I was going to export it to a drive and then relink it to the footage in the project, but no?

Or better yet… what should I be exporting the files to? I don’t see an option for prores 422 2048×1152 at 23.98 fps

frame size is 2048×1152
I do not want to reduce the frame size, but will start to try compressor to try and retain the tc and reel metadata .
I am not working in premiere because the editor of this project has changed (I am the AE) and the new editor doesn’t use Premiere but instead uses FCP7. So I am setting up the feature for him to be able to edit easily.

I want to create low res versions. Right now most of the footage is either in proves 422 or 4444 so I’ll need a way to edit it in a low res version that can be transferred back to the original format when the edit is complete. Right now I am trying to use MPEG stream clip to create smaller prores files – then relinking the media in the project to those new files… then hopefully being able to relink back once the edit is complete. Does that seem like a good idea?
