Thanks Kevin, I will try this out this week.

What I need is more complicated than a Venn Diagram overlap.

Where 2 (or more) circle outlines intersect, I need to create a smaller circle that exists at those overlap points only…

Imagine 2 planet orbits crossing each other and the planets always live at the intersections.

There is a screenshot of what I’m describing in the first post. The small blue circles live on the intersections. That part is easy if this were a static image. It’s much more complicated (to me) when the circles are moving…

Sorry for any confusion, I’ll answer any specifics I can

    No Proxies are being used

All Quality checkboxes are on ‘best’

All Comp > Advanced settings> Preserve resolution when nested is ‘checked’

When I render full res/best quality (1360 x 768) all elements look great.

When I render everything at best possible quality, but with a half res setting (680 x 384) mostly my video elements (which I realize now are nested) and some other nested comps come out pixelated.

I do not expect a 680 x 384 comp to look good blown up to 1360 x 768. I do however expect the comp to look good & sharp at 680 x 384.

I’ve attached images to show what I get, (this is actually 1/4th, but I get the same issue at 1/2 anyway)

Image 1 shows the pixelated video, image 2 shows a photo from the same render that looks great.

And again if I render full res, the video looks just fine.

    Hope this helps.

Took me a while to get back to this post.

Well there’s two things I’m trying to accomplish

    1. take motion from other comps (not from other layers) and apply them elsewhere.

    2. I also use parenting in some cases, but I’m interested in temporary parenting where one layer follows another for a certain amount of time, but then begins it’s own independent movements (imagine a train moving and then the last car is detached and then slows/eases down at it’s own pace)

to accomplish that I usually end up duplicating a layer and unparent the duplicate so that I can start a new, non-dependent motion.
