I have the .lut. Where do I put in so it can get into AE?

Yes, we are LOG C. In Avid during the off line we’ve been using a curves adjustment to give us an adjusted look. As far as the comps go, I’m comping without an adjustment layer (or no LUT for color).

Thank you! That works. By the way, why not set it to 32 bit? Thanks regardless.

Interesting… Turns out Avid’s warp is cleaner anyway. I’ll stay in that app for this.

Great, thanks! But how do I create new databases? Is that simply in the app somewhere “refresh databases” or something like that. I’m not in front of the app now. Have it at home. Currently on an FCP job. Soon to be on a Avid job.

Thank you. I know it’s important for me to get a good, basic understanding of this app as an editor. I’ll look into these.

That tutorial is confusing while under an assembly deadline (and a baby on the way). I had to do this in Motion, which I know. Since FCP is falling off the map and I am moving to AVID, I want to get a better understading of AE as a workflow for narrative editorial assistance. I am assuming that AE’s masks persit no matter what, right? Bummer. I couldn’t even move the mask without it disappearing, and the “G” keys just don’t seem to help, I’m either adding points or removing points– no control when I don’t know that I’m doing. What’s the most cost effective way to learn the baics of the app quicly and without a lot of pain for a non-fx guy? I went to Andrew Kramer, but he didn’t have anything on basic masking in regards to whether or not they persist. Frustrated.
