OMG…. okay, CC Cylinder is the problem. When I pre-comp the cylinder layer it goes flat, loses the cylinder.
Yikes…. I feel totally stuck right now. I am experimenting with manually keyframing a directional blur for every spin of the cylinder.

Thanks for the great reply Dave.
here is one for you….I just moved the CC force blur to the bottom of the stack of effects on my layer and it negates the CC Cylinder effect. Suddenly my nice cylinder is flat….
Switching off the FB effect brings back my cylinder.Rats… I need something to be easy right now.

Hey Dave,
I have a huge and elaborate AE project with a lot of spinning cylinders (CC Cylinder). I have a horrible problem with the side spinning graphics being jumpy. I just learned about motion blur in AE, I have tried to apply it with a variety of tests and can’t seem to get anything to happen.
Do you think it is because AE doesn’t recognize the CC Cylinder motion as true motion? It is a keyframed move… seems like AE motion blur would read this properly.
If I use CC Force Motion Blur, do I place it at the bottom of the stack of effects or will it work on top? (I am asking because you are right, just placing the force motion blur on the layer causes AE to come to a crawl.)
Thanks, Matt

Thanks Dave,
I checked out the DV Matte site a few days ago (DV Garage). The info on the site is old, they way it works with FCP 2 & 4 (not 3) and they have not updated it since.
I sent them an email asking if DV Matte works with FCP6 on an intel mac, I have yet to hear back from them.
Thanks for the reply.

Hey Jeremy,
The graphics are created in After effects. They are rendered as quicktime animation files at 1440 x 960, square pixel.
The video footage is shot in HD at 720P.
The video footage needs to be composited over the graphics.
After editing, the whole thing will go to a SD DVD.
The question is, what is the best, most efficient Sequence settings to combine the graphics and HD footage?
I am experimenting and feel like this is really confusing. I am forced to change the aspect ratio of the video footage in order for the woman (host) to not look short and fat, but then I get stair-stepping on her.
Hulllllp?

December 16, 2007 at 9:18 pm in reply to: How come my HD footage looks blocky in DVNTSC Sequence?Hi Shane,
I am using this workflow because it made the most sense to me. But clearly it is not working, as such, I am posting to find a better answer.
When I shoot DV NTSC, it isn’t blocky. I didn’t imagine that compositing a high resolution image into a DV sequence would result in a blocky image.
The graphics that I am creating in After effect do not appear blocky, only the HD footage of the woman.
Since I am going to be taking this to a SD DVD, I thought I should use a DV Sequence since I have done that a hundred times before and have been happy with the results.
Any thoughts as to what would be a better process?

December 13, 2007 at 6:50 pm in reply to: Keyed green screen appears during Cross Dissolve…Hi Tom,
Not sure what you mean in asking if the effect is rendered.
When I have the clips stacked in the timeline, I render all, and play back. When playing back I see a ghost-image of the green screen appear during a cross dissolve transition.

December 13, 2007 at 6:13 pm in reply to: Keyed green screen appears during Cross Dissolve…I used the “Blue and Green” key effect.
I tried the other key tools but had the most luck with this one.
