The issue was that it wasnt at the root of the drive. I kept the two folders from the CD in one folder celled Avid. Thanks for help Glenn. Feeling a little silly for not figuring out something as simple as that.

Hi John,

here’s the folder structure of the footage that came on the Avid Learning Series DVD.

1) Avid MediaFiles=>MXF=>4 folders (0101, 0102, 0103, 0104)=> within the folders all .mxf folders.

2) MC6 Editing Book Files=>Additional Project Media, MC6 Editing Projects, Training User

Hi Michael,

They are all .mxf files from the Avid learning Series user certification manual. I didnt have this issue when I used the footage on the mac and from how the book describes the lessons it seems like it was designed to be used on Mac and PC.

Hi Glenn,

I moved the media to an external drive (only thing available at the moment) and from the Avid learning series disk it had two foldes; “Avid mediafiles” and “MC6 Editing Book Files”. Within “Avid MediaFiles” was the file structure MXF=>0101,0102,0103,0104 folders, all files in .mxf format.

Still having the issue with connecting the footage. It seemed to work fine when I did it on my Mac but im not too PC savvy.

Thanks for the tip. I was originally passing of ProRes and then was requested to pass of AIC. They have QT7 on their systems now so they should be able to read ProRes with no issue.

So with them having QT7 (which they recently added) and working with ProRes would that help with the color issue?

Im not sure what you mean by “HQ”, are you referring to ProRes HQ?

just a personal side note: I see you work at KCRG-TV In Cedar Rapids. I know one of your camera men Michael Griffith; we worked together a while back at Bigfoot Studios, solid guy.

Thanks for the advice. I completely forgot about QT7 containing the ProRes codec. I’ll recommend that to the gfx team

This is what was explained to me the issue is:

the GFX team explained that they’ve been having difficulty using the ProRes codec causing slight shifts in color and contrast. And they are unable to output it as ProRes because they don’t have FCP7 or the codec itself on their systems.

Has anyone ever heard of this problem before? Is there any options besides looking for 3rd party plugins? (not my idea; i think its a worthy investment)
