Thanks for the updates –
With regards to the issue being how the file was copied, I feel this doesn’t work as a solution to the problem because if I disable the Red Rocket card inside Davinci the problems go away. Also we have had no issue inside RedCine.
Good luck with your problem Thibault but this looks like a major problem with DaVinci and Red.

Thanks but the errors appear there as well. Any thoughts?

We way do you recommend looking at the MXF so far I have only tried FCP but I did try FCP on three different systems to make sure it wasn’t a version problem

Hi Jeremy,
We are shooting on the HVX300 after a shoot day we dump the footage via a Panasonic PCD20 connected via 1394B (FW800) through a G-Drive to our MacBook Pro. On the Mac we run ShotPutPro to create a duplicate and verify the entire p2 card. At a later date we create the proxy media inside FCP and this is when the digital drops out were discovered. We keep all the logs from ShotPutPro and none of the transfers include any errors. The odd thing is that these errors don’t appear on all the cards just some of the card but using the exact same setup.
Attached is the result of the dropouts.

We are facing this same problem, we also used ShotPut Pro to create and verify our masters and this problem still happened. How could this happen?
Can anyone from Panasonic shed light on this as we are using the latest version of ShotPut, HPX300, AVC codec, p2 e-series cards and our footage has digital errors in it.
We have all our verification logs from shotput too, so things just don’t add up.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Question for you Bob, by switching the playback to 1080i 29.97 doesn’t that mean the 3:2 conversion is now handled by FCP and not the Kona. The good folks at AJA suggesting keeping the playback at 108023.98 psf but I will try that method.

Thanks Duke, I didn’t notice that in the manual but it does show me the frame rate as 23.976psf in the control panel or 525 29.97 if I patch in the SD side of things. So I think the setting are correct.
Do you a Gen 10, if so do you have your Gen 10 match your timeline setting or the setting of the record VTR?
Cheers

Actually the LHe and even the IOHD can play back 2k files via 1080p from a 2k timeline. Just set your playback to 1080p 23.976 or 29.97 depending on your frame rate.
This is great for screening and even pulling a SD or quick HD copy. If you are pulling an HD master I would go with a Kona 3 as you would have the option for dual link if you had your footage in 4×4 and outputting to a SR VTR.
But for screenings you are just fine with the LHe
