You can move your media from one drive to another and keep the media on-line to the project. Avid saves all the media into a folder called “OMFMediaFiles” all you have to do is move that folder from one harddrive to the other. BUT your Lacie probly already has a folder “OMFMediaFiles”. What your going to have to do is rename the folders to something like “OMFMediaFilesMaxtor” and “OMFMediaFilesLacie”. Now whatever media you have saved onto one of the drives, when you go to edit that project you need to change the name back to “OMFMediaFiles” and all your media will be back on-line. So if a project that the media was saved to the Maxtor drive, then you would change “OMFMediaFilesMaxtor” to “OMFMediaFiles”, so that avid knows what folder to read. Now that should work. It doesn’t matter what drive the media is stored but as long as theres a folder called “OMFMediaFiles” that Avid can read the media from. I hope that this can fix your problem.
