It looks like were going with the Z400 and FX 3800. HP just can’t be beat right now with their discounts and 3 year warranty on site plan included.

We needed something sooner – I’m working with a 5 yr old Dell desktop, and the hamster inside threatens to go on strike every other day.

Do you have the NVidia Elemental accellerator?
If so, does it really boost encodes by 60-70%?

Since you referenced the i7 processor, do you have an opinion on going i7 (820) vs. Xenon 3400 or 3500 series?

For comparison, I am doing a batch in Compressor right now going from a self-contained DV Anamorphic QT to
1) Deinterlaced using frame controls
2) Deinterlaced using the deinterlace filter
3) Nothing altered
I’m not resizing. I will post my results.

Is the reason I’m seeing the interlacing in the Compressor viewer the same reason that I always see interlacing when playing back an mpeg2 file ripped from DVD in mpeg streamclip?
Something having to do with viewing interlaced footage on a computer screen, right?

And for good measure…when is the best time to deinterlace the above mentioned mpeg2 files for editing? Before editing or after picture lock?
