The reel and timecode are the same yes, but how do I go about relinking with that to the raw files? What are the steps needed to achieve this?
I’m still new to Premiere. In FCP7 I would use Log and Transfer, load the reels and it would “upres” each clip from the raw files, this would work even if the proxy files had been renamed.

Hi Simon,
Audio does have timecode just like video. If the timecode/frame rates don’t match then you will have audio drifting every few minutes just like you described. I would try using Wave Agent to change the timecode/frame rate of the audio to match that of the iPhone.
iPhones usually shoot in 29.97 Drop-Frame. So in Wave Agent after you import your audio, change the frame rate to 29.97 DF under the recording info. After that hit Save in the lower-left corner which will automatically overwrite your audio file with the new frame rate so make sure you have a backup just in case.

In the bin I went to Modify > Audio Channels… And actually changed the preset from (Use File) to (Mono) which split the L and R channels into two tracks on the timeline, like you said it would.
The problem was that Premiere thought the clip was in Stereo when it’s actually dual-mono so it put both L and R channel from the clip in Track 1 making it impossible to manipulate them individually.
As soon as I changed the preset to Mono I didn’t even have to change the audio pan.

Yep yep. It was a necessary evil unfortunately. I just made sure they were labeled properly so we’re able to reconnect to them.

Thanks Simon! I actually ended up using MPEG Streamclip to convert the footage. Will definitely look into Resolve next time.
