But I’ve been doing this for months without this issue ever occurring. I’ll try the VO tool. Will it track into a bin or does it insist on loading straight to the timeline?

No, I don’t have a capture card. I have a DV deck plugged in via firewire, but mostly I have been using the Log and Capture tool to record scratch narration via a USB mic.

[Jeremy Garchow] “Here’s a screen record of what I am talking about.”

Jeremy, that’s the Log and Transfer window, not the Log and Capture.

[Jeremy Garchow] “It’s really tiny in the L&C window.”

Well, OK, Jeremy. It happened again today and my producer and I spent five minutes moving the cursor along all the edges of the window grabbing at things and never found a way to expand (or for that matter, contract) the size. Unlike yesterday, however, closing the Log and Capture window and reopening it, brought it back to its full proportions.

    Unaddressed bug #573

Thanks Jeremy. I’ll try this if it comes up again.

Am I just losing my eye-hand coordination or is it exceedingly difficult to grab the corners and edges of windows in Apple’s Pro apps? The sweet spot seems tiny.

And if you do do it that way, can you successfully stream something of length? I’m able to stream from FCP, it just never lasts.

    “damn you, non-scrolling timeline”

If only that were the least of it, Jeff. Yeah, I’ve spent most of the last 20 years on Avid myself and I think the contributors here are getting a little tired of my, “I’m sure you can do this…” questions.

Thanks for all the responses. Since I don’t have a SAN, I’m going to assume I’m safe to turn Spotlight back on. It will certainly ease my life.

“Did you select “file name” not “content” and also tell it to search the media drive?”

Yes and it still doesn’t show up. I think CMD F abides by the same Privacy rules that Spotlight does. I”ve prevented Spotlight from searching these drives (System Prefs>Spotlight>Privacy), maybe that keeps Find from searching them as well.

    ‘Why turn off Spotlight?”

Because several sources (I’ll try to find and post them later) have said that Spotlight creates conflicts with FCP. I’ve been fighting major issues and, having finally gotten back up and running, hate to chance it.
