Maybe throwing in some stock footage or photography.

Digitaljuice.com comes to mind. For a couple hundred bucks you could by a lot.

How do I make a window burn?

I think this is what I want to do.

And then when I output the final .mov I’ll just leave the time code out.

January 19, 2010 at 2:54 am in reply to: Problems Importing 720p 23.98 footage

What I’ve sometimes done in the past is open AE and create a composition with the size & settings you want. Don’t use presets.

Then import you footage into the project panel.

Then drag your footage file into the comp icon above in the project panel and your footage should pop right into the timeline with the correct aspect.

    Hope this helps.

January 19, 2010 at 2:36 am in reply to: AE stops rendering the time line

    Hey Dave,

Sorry I jumped the gun to quick here. Log & Transfer in FCP brings P2 AVC Intra clips in as ProRes 422 (HQ).

    That’s not h.264 right?

H.264 codec is down sizing clips say for instance the web.

Reading you comment there perked up my ears and just want to make sure “I” got this right.

    thx

    Hey Dave,

Boy that’s an interesting piece of info. about the codec’s.

    Let me ask you something:
We shoot P2 and then Log & Transfer into FCP. Doesn’t that process convert to clips to H.264 .mov’s? Because a lot of times we use that footage in AE.

If your answer is yes it does, then what another process to get clips off P2 cards into a codec that works?

Make sure you have Flash Player 10 installed.

And, MAYBE turn off a program or 2 to give more available ram or any other browser windows that are displaying flash ads or something else that is taking up bandwidth. Just a thought.

January 16, 2010 at 11:36 pm in reply to: colorizing specific pieces of an image?

Yeah, PS is the best way to go here. Colorize them there and reimport and update in AE.

Save them as PS files preferably in one layer since this is pretty simple as you said.

As far as these mid project changes, I remember reading a little while ago someone started a thread, “Do you use contracts”.

It was amazing how many did not. We NEVER do ANY job without having all the “T’s” crossed & the “I’S” dotted FIRST and we also always stipulate that if further changes are requested that go outside these terms, time will be kept and billed at “X per hr.”.

So I don’t care if they change till Christmas, they’ll pay for it.
