May 4, 2009 at 2:58 am in reply to: New HPX300 can’t get footage off P2 with MacPro (new user) waiting for DVD from NoahWell I haven’t had the chance yet to put it through the rigors yet. I’m just now trying to get the whole P2 thing down.
But from what test I’ve shoot so far great.
Keep the camera in the 5.6 range & use ND filters if need be and you’ll be fine. Go to a fireworks display you probably won’t.
When you mentioned
I understand there was a wrong factory setting in pedestle. (was set at +15 and should have been 0) that when corrected makes for a much lower noise factor…What exactly is this setting you’re talking about? Is this an adjustment in the menu or what? I haven’t heard that yet.

May 2, 2009 at 9:32 pm in reply to: New HPX300 can’t get footage off P2 with MacPro (new user) waiting for DVD from NoahYeah I did that.
It’s working now.
OK, just for the sake of other new P2 users and the HPX300 buyers that will no doubt be coming here by the droves, here’s what I finally did in addition to all the steps above.
I went to jeremy’s embedded link (in previous a previous post) and downloaded the MAC P2 driver & software and the AVC-Intra codecs. It required a reboot
Then….
First, connect the Panny 300 to the MacPro with a USB cable. Then go into the main menu/system setup/PC Mode and click ON. That will mount the camera’s P2 card on the desktop. Probably called NO NAME.
Then you go to the designated HD on your computer you want the clips on and create a folder ie A001. Copy the CONTENTS folder & the .TXT file from the mounted camera P2 card that’s on your desktop into that folder.
Launch FCP.
Create new Bin. Name Bin the same name as the folder on your HD that you created.
In FCP, go to File/Log & Transfer
When the Log & Transfer window comes up, go to the sprocket in the upper right hand corner and click Preferences.
Select AVC-Intra ProRes 422 (HD)
Then, go to the the camera icon in the upper left hand corner of the L & T window and click to find the folder on your HD that you copied your files into.
Now here’s where it got weird for me at first but I figured it out. If I just selected the folder and clicked open, nothing came in. BUT, if I selected the folder and then clicked CONTENTS within that folder and then back to the main folder and clicked open it came in fine. So apparently the complete path had to be defined.
You’ll see your clip(s) on the left hand side of the L & T window and you can then proceed with further editing, naming etc as Shane explained earlier in his video in this thread.
Thanks guys so much.
See ya more in the forum.

Yeah like I said above in the beginning of this thread, I went there right off the bat and as I look through that area (the same area as your link) It sure looks like to me that if you’re running on a MAC with 10.5.6 OS there are NO drivers needed. There in 10.5.6.
Unless I’m, missing something.
I did get the AVC-Intra codecs though and I’m getting ready to shoot some test footage now and see if that Logs & Transfers ok.

May 2, 2009 at 1:08 am in reply to: New HPX300 can’t get footage off P2 with MacPro (new user) waiting for DVD from NoahNo I didn’t.
I was unaware of this.
I’ll follow your link and install, erase the P2 card, shoot again test video in 100 and try again.
Please stay with me and check back. I’ll probably have this done tomorrow morning.
Thanks Shane.

May 2, 2009 at 12:19 am in reply to: New HPX300 can’t get footage off P2 with MacPro (new user) waiting for DVD from NoahOk, I was able to see the first clips I shot DVCPROHD and logged & transferred them again.
So that’s working.
But when I go to the sprocket and changed to the AVCIntra-ProRes 422 (HD) and them try to bring in that folder nothing happens. No clips come into the left side panel.

May 1, 2009 at 11:52 pm in reply to: New HPX300 can’t get footage off P2 with MacPro (new user) waiting for DVD from NoahWell, you know how when you click that camera icon and select the folder they come into the left side panel first. Then you can add them to the que. They don’t even show up on the left side.

Wow, what a great video. I followed right along with you and worked just fine.
Does this same process work now with any recorded format including Intra 50 & 100?
Your the greatest.
