My compromise solution. I will replace with better components down the road. Wish I had the money to do it right the first time – but necessity is the mother of invention. The RAM and the 1394 card I can move to a better system. I chose the MOBO based on reusing my AGP video card. Figured I’d buy a better video card when I can replace the CPU and the MOBO. Once I started looking at the 939 socket MOBOs, I would have had to buy a new video card. Oh well, $244 and I have a mostly new computer. This should be overclockable as well.

I have an ASUS board in my current config. I would go with them again. AMD has more 64 bit chips than Carter had little liver pills. The entry price on an Operteron chip seems to be about $189 or so from Newegg. Would I be better off at the bottom of the Opteron line, or w/ a 3 gig P4? Can you point me to some CPU ratings with video metrics? Thanx for your help.

AMD or Intel? AMD sure is the price leader. Anyone compare relative performance between these chips using AE and Premiere?

My MX card doesn’t have a fan. (PC). Did you try the card with AE 7? What accelerations did it offer? Thanx.

Use the alpha channel as a selection and cut out the background of the other layers with it. Is this what you are asking? I think Ctrl clicking on the alpha channel will turn the ants on.
