thanks for your response jon, i have the layer set to “best” and the faceting on “best” set to .1

to see just the levels:

Under Sequence>Settings>Timeline Options
there is an option that says “Show Keyframe Overlays”.
–> this is also how you get control of fades using
the pen tool on the level indicators.

to see the waveforms:

Under Sequence>Settings>Timeline Options
there is an option that says “Show Audio Waveforms”.

thanks ! nesting the clip would help in what way ? i thought maybe it would help me avoid rendering it but i just nested it and got the big red bar up top.
