ve got some long files that i need to post on the web and let a client pick some pieces out of. is there a way to lay timecode visibly over the movie so that they can use it as a reference ?

There is a Timecode Generator filter in the ‘Video’ folder under the Effects tab. You may want to nest the sequence before you apply the filter.

thanks ! nesting the clip would help in what way ? i thought maybe it would help me avoid rendering it but i just nested it and got the big red bar up top.

If there are several cuts in your sequence, the TCG filter will only apply to one clip and give a display for the duration of that one clip. If you nest your clips together, then apply the TCG filter, it will display from the first frame to the last frame of the entire sequence. Unfortunately, since the TCG is a filter, you will most likely have to render. Hope this helps.
