Ah. That worked. Didn’t last night. For what I’m doing that works fine as it’s a project using LUX . Not able to find that key shortcut listed anywhere so I better make a note of it.
Thanks Greg.

Woo Hoo!
I finally found the answer and resolved this issue. I found it here on Black Magic Designs site forum:
https://forum.blackmagicdesign.com/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=2782&p=16341&hilit=Premiere+Pro#p16341
… about 1/3 of a page down.
Figured I’d post the info here for posterity in case someone else runs into the same problem. The problem WAS related to installing to a custom location so required manually copying some files from the C:Program Files (x86)Blackmagic DesignBlackmagic Desktop VideoPremiere Support6.0 location where the install process places them.
I find it amazing that this isn’t a more common issue. Guess I’m the only one on the planet who doesn’t like to install everything onto C:, but so it goes.

July 26, 2012 at 10:10 pm in reply to: Still a no-go with 9.5.3 drivers and PPro CS 5.5Joshua,
OK. Finally got a bit of time between projects and tried the Blackmagic_Desktop_Video_Windows_9.5.3 drivers once again with my install of PPro CS 5.5.
As I’d thought, yes under Preferences/Player Settings, I had the Blackmagic Design Playback selected. Even so, there’s no video getting sent out from the DeckLink Studio to the HDLink box. Audio is fine & mapped as it should be.
I revert back to the 9.1.0.0 drivers and all works as it should.
The problem seems to ONLY be with Premiere Pro. After Effects works. Media Express works. Even the Photoshop menu item works.
Any suggestions or hope that this might get fixed?
Thanks,
Mark

July 25, 2012 at 12:30 am in reply to: Items in Timeline NOT being found in Project BinsAh. Very good to know for future reference.
However, what I tried and it worked was to create new project and bank sequence. I saved, closed, opened the problem project and did a drag select of everything, then performed a copy. I then opened the new project and after a few moments was able to Paste into the empty sequence. Everything in the timeline was in place plus all the assets in the Bin were now there.
Thanks for the quick reply though.

When updating to the later drivers, any idea then as to why Premiere Pro projects will no longer have video sent out to the monitor via HDLink then when using the Black Magic presets, either new or existing?
Thanks,

That certainly has to be disheartening. Have your considered giving their Tech Support folk in Fremont CA a call?
Ph# is +1 (408) 324 2799.
I’ve had good luck with them.
FWIW though, the very first project I did with the DeckLink Studio was 1920 X 1080p. I didn’t capture material through it; the files were brought to me on a drive. Nor am I sending it out to HDMI directly. Its going out via SDI to a original HDLink box and then out to HDMI.
I didn’t even know what this project was shot on so thought I’d have to track down a codec. As it turned out, Premiere accepted them straight out w/o any complaint. Delivered the final as a digital file for a Blu-ray supplement.

I noticed the problem first on a current PPro project right after I updated to 9.5.0.0. I then tried a new project using a BM preset and still had the same problem.
When I uninstalled those and tried the 9.2 drivers, I was a bit surprised that they didn’t work either as the readme specifically states that they’re for CS 5.5.
Reading through the past months posts, seems that there are a lot of issues with the 9.5 drivers with CS 6.x
Well, at least I have something that works and is pretty current. I’m sure they’ll eventually sort it out.

Things can get “frustrating” working with AE in 3D, but the example you showed shouldn’t be too daunting. Mainly, you’ve camera controls along with point of interest position, but there are ways of dealing with them so they aren’t fighting you.
Yes, using pre-comps is the way to go although there are a few aspects that can get confusing when dealing with nested comps. Collapse Transformations for example when using vector based artwork might cause some unexpected results if your not aware, but in general I wouldn’t worry about it as it’s always an easy fix; just a matter of finding the right check box to toggle usually.
There’s plenty of material on the COW to study, but I’d also recommend these sites for tutorials:
https://maltaannon.com/
He has a tutorial specifically on working with 3D cameras in AE as well as an inexpensive script for setup.https://www.videocopilot.net/tutorials/
Tons of good info here as well.Good luck,

I was at the same show if it was the one at WB. I only had a few minutes to talk to the Black Magic folk and I had some specific questions for them about a new capture card of theirs I just purchased and didn’t know enough about AVID; I just assumed their software would work with BMD since they were at the show. Anyway, I did see only Mac based presentation tables, so perhaps Media Composer isn’t Win7 supported although BMD I believe is tri-lingual when it comes to OS support. I haven’t visited AVID’s site to investigate, so anyone really interested &/or ambitious would start there I’d think.
