That would certainly be an alternative. The song is seven minutes long, however, and that seems to be a lot of “syncing” text with the audio??

I may just try using the lower thirds option, as scrolling text, and see if seven minutes of text causes it to crash??

I finally figured out “handles” – had a difficult time coming to grips with “less was more” concept with the in/out. Thanks to everyone for the inpput!!

I apparently don’t understand the term “handles”, Mark? The “clip” is a still photo, placed on the timeline with seven seconds in length. I thought a two second transition on either end of the clip would leave three seconds for the image to appear? Is that not the case?

Thanks for helping with this, Mark. I’ll follow your instructions, but I’m not quite understanding where I’m going wrong.

When I play the stills in the viewer, from the in to out points, it reflects the still clip is 7:22 long. When I drag two of these clips to the timeline and place them together, they are 15:15 long. Shouldn’t that be sufficient to place a two second transition between them?

I can separate the two stills, and place a transition on either end of them, individually, as well as the ability to adjust their length; however, when I place them together on the timeline and drag any transition between them, the transition becomes 00:00:01 in length and cannot be adjusted???

    What am I missing here??

Thanks, Dave, for the quick reply. Unfortunately, that didn’t resolve the issue. I can now drag the transition to the timeline, dropping it between two still images (each 7 seconds long). Even though I’ve changed the length to two seconds, the transition reverts to 0.01 in length in the timeline, even though in the browser, the default does indicate the length to be one second (01.00).
    ????????

I believe I figured it out. Once you begin to build your movie, you apparently can’t change Sequence Settings – is that correct??

In any event, I started over using consistent sizes (720X480) on all media, images, etc. and it’s working fine!

Thanks again, Shane. I’ll play with some of the other “dv” settings.

I still have FCP 6 because it’s more commensurate with my age!!! ;>)

Thanks, Shane, for the quick response. The text is scrolling on top of an 890×602 JPEG…other than one short video (320×240 w/30fps) at the beginning, the entire show is just stills/transitions.

The Sequence output appears to be 720×480, 29.97 fps, DV/DVCPRO – NT. If this needs to be changed, can I do so with a completed project? And, if so, how do I do that?

Thanks, Nick. Guess I’ll have to read up or look for tutorials on nesting…and use of the vignette. Can’t seem to put it all together??
